We are a bluegrass and acoustic group from the hills of East Tennessee. We all live in Rogersville, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The Ball Sisters Band features the award winning musicianship of fiddler Jessica Ball and guitarist/ mandolinist Cris Ball.Their father, Randy Ball, plays guitar, while our friend John Skelton on bass rounds out the group.
Here is some news since I last posted about them at Oddio Overplay.
Jessica has won several fiddle contests, began giving lessons at sixteen, and is now in the East Tennessee State University Bluegrass Program. After spending the Spring semester in The ETSU Pride Band, Jessica was with The ETSU Bluegrass Band for the Fall semester. In January 2005, Jessica was selected to be part of a group of ETSU Bluegrass musicians who toured England and Scotland.
Cris won the National Beginner's Flat Top Guitar Championship at Smithville,TN in 1997 and 1998, as well as many other guitar and mandolin contests. Randy is a published songwriter, and was selected for the Songwriter's Showcase at the 2004 IBMA World of Bluegrass. John is also an accomplished mandolin player. We strive to put a lot of variety into our music, and include bluegrass, old-time, rock and roll and gospel. Our music includes originals, fiddle tunes, hymns, waltzes and more!
Our MP3.com page had over 50,000 plays, and we now have a new mp3 page with Soundclick.com. We are proud that our recordings have been played on radio in the United States, Canada, France, Holland, Ireland, England, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, Russia, Australia, and New Zealand. We would like to play for you, but if you are out of our area, we have several recordings available. Our new CD, Rivers and Roads, has just been released on Project One Records. Either live or recorded, we will do our best to provide quality music and family entertainment!
