Record Store Day, 2012

Here's a stat the recording industry trade organizations always seem to breeze past: People who enjoy free music online get turned on to exponentially more sounds and purchase them in the shops and online. Yup, we fans of diverse music typically have bigger, more diverse music collections than the average listener.

Let's enjoy our free music AND support the artists we discover! Tomorrow is that fabulous international event Record Store Day 2012, gang, and you can bet Team Oddio will be out at our favorite vinyl joints. Support your local music shop!

This is the fifth year of RSD, and as usual, there will be Record Store Day exclusives (pdf) and if your shops celebrate the holiday, there are bound to be lots of freebies, fun stuff, and events. Our regional shops have sent us home with bags of promos, provided free musical performances, offered storewide discounts, and even hosted free cookouts. It's a celebration, so get out there, friends!

A Full Moon Party in Chile

Here's a beauty from jazz guitarist Emer Mulhulland and her group. Mulholland is a classically-trained guitarist, Stag Records session musician, and Galway native. This album was recorded in beautiful Cerro Concepción, Valparaíso, Chile.

The pianist is Tom Fahy who you may recall released toy piano albums by composer Aestrid Burne (1968-1998) to whom this album is dedicated. Do check out the remarkable catalog of albums (instrumental, classical, jazz,...) Mr. Fahy has made available with Creative Commons licensing.
